The tyres on your vehicle are a safety critical component and when you consider that your tyres are its only point of contact with the road surface you can appreciate why they are so important

Your vehicle is required by UK law to be fitted with the right type and size of tyre for your vehicle type. The minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 mm across the central ¾ of the tread around the complete circumference of the tyre. However we like many vehicle manufacturers recommend that you replace your tyres before you reach the legal limit.

We recommend you get in to the habit of checking your tyres regularly. You tyres should also be checked if you experience any of the following:

• The vehicle pulls to the side
• The tyres make any strange noises
• The vehicle vibrates

Tyre balancing

Balancing a wheel ensures that the wheel and tyre weight is even. Wheel balance is achieved by placing small weights at specific points around the wheel to offset any imbalance. If you notice any uneven wear on your tyres or a slight steering vibration it could be that your wheels and tyres need balancing.
